If no door surface is detected, it is advisable to select the floor as a reference surface. The displayed grid points provide a visual aid - select the point at which the door will be installed later.
The app does not actively recognize any objects. It places the AR door visualization over existing objects. From the iPhone XS, however, person recognition is active - people can be automatically displayed in the foreground.
